Hello, I am here with the second issue of my newsletter, which includes developments regarding WordPress and the software world. I will try to cover many topics such as WordPress Themes, WordPress Plugins, WordPress Hosting. Without further ado, I would like to start with our first news;

PHP 7.0 and 7.1 Support is Retired in WordPress 6.6

There is no support for PHP 7.0 and 7.1 in WordPress 6.6, which is planned to be released in July 2024. The new minimum supported version of PHP will be 7.2.24, while the recommended version will be PHP 7.4 or higher. The currently recommended PHP version is 8.0 and 8.1. Many hosting companies in our country work with PHP 7.4 as the default version, which may negatively affect your site in terms of security and performance. If you can, set your PHP version to 8.0 or 8.1 as soon as possible from your hosting management panel. First, make sure that your themes or plugins are compatible. You can find detailed information on the subject here.
WordPress Eclipse

According to statement made by WordPress founder Matt Mullenberg on the In fact, this incident proves how meaningless the “WordPress is Slow” comment that most of us often encounter is. Once again, we see that slow servers, bad installations, bad themes and plugins are not WordPress.
WordPress 6.5.2 Security Update Released

After the update to the new version of WordPress, 6.5, the WordPress 6.5.2 update was quickly released, especially due to the security problem experienced in the Block Editor. As you can understand from the title, the update includes security updates. Details can be found here.
WordCamp Asia Event Photos Released

WordCamp Asia, the worldwide event series organized by WordPress, was held this year in Taipei, Taiwan, on March 7-9, 2024. You can find detailed information about the event here. They have just published the photos of the event, and you can access all the photos from here.
New WordCamp Event in Italy in June 2024

Speaking of the past WordCamp event, let me also give information about the upcoming WordCamp event. The new WordCamp event will be held in Turin, Italy, between 13-15 June 2024. You can access the details and tickets of the event here. As of today, standard tickets are 50 Euros, I think those who have a visa and the opportunity should definitely go.
How Much Does WordPress Earn?

Kyle Van Deusen shared the results of the 2024 WordPress Professional Survey with the participation of 1,144 freelancers and agency owners (members of The Admin Bar group). According to the research: 72% of respondents earn less than $5,000 for their websites, and only 32% of the income comes from recurring income sources. Of course, this situation is very different in our country. The funny numbers we see, especially on freelance platforms, actually poison our own ecosystem. I am thinking of preparing a detailed video on this subject.
Under Construction Mode Coming to WooCommerce

As WooCommerce’s Developer team leader James Kemp announced on the X platform, you will be able to put your store in Live or Under Construction mode without the need for any other plugins or settings. It was a very useful development because many people were wasting unnecessary resources with their add-ons during the construction phase.
Converting from Woo to WooCommerce

The WooCommerce team, which made the decision to switch from Woocommerce.com to Woo.com and announced last week that the transition was postponed, canceled this decision and decided to continue with WooCommerce.com. In the announcement, it was stated that Google’s algorithm change would negatively affect them. My personal opinion is that such big and market-leading names should never be changed. For example, is Twitter more meaningful or X? I’m waiting for your opinions in the comments.
WordPress Plugins and Systems
Here are this week’s WordPress Plugins that I think will be useful to you;
Email Reports for SureCart

Email Reports for SureCart plugin allows you to create email reports based on your SureCart sales and Google Analytics data. You can easily track your sales performance and site traffic with these reports, which can be set daily, weekly or monthly. You can personalize your email reports, select specific metrics, and receive these reports as often as you want. It offers the opportunity to receive many data, from product performance to sales trends, via e-mail. For detailed information, you can visit the website SurelyWP.
Disable Emails Per Product for WooCommerce

The Disable Emails Per Product for WooCommerce plugin allows you to disable specific emails per product in your WooCommerce store. In order to manage the incoming email bombardment for various events such as new orders, order updates and customer notifications, with this plugin you can selectively stop sending emails for each product. It also provides the option to manually override this setting for individual orders. There is also a global view feature where you can see which emails are disabled for each product. For details and installation, you can use here.
